Toots club

So a few weeks back my friend referred me to a job at the childcare centre under Shangri-La Rasa Resort and I decided to give it a try. Trust me, it's really, really inconvenient for me, but really, really worth it. Y'know the feeling when you've worked at somewhere for so long that you kinda just become attached to it and you don't actually rush to get out of there to go home at the end of the day? (p.s. It's only my fifth day at the centre today).

Ericia's 19th birthday picnic party!

So Ericia had this absolutely sane idea to have a picnic in a 32°-kind of weather, but Xx and I couldn't decline because we were gonna celebrate her birthday in advance after all. Since morning I had been spazzing about how excited I was for the picnic because I haven't had one in ages (I even made props and brought utensils for photography purposes) but the birthday girl wasn't feeling the same way; She was more excited about the newly released iPhone 5S...

Other than the weather, I very much enjoyed our mini photoshoot and the long-awaited catching up meant for months and months ago :-*

After which we dropped by 49 Seats for dinner as planned. 49 seats really has 49 seats btw. #funfact

Fried Chicken Wings

Tom Yam Pasta

I didn't have the Tom Yam Pasta (obviously, because of my terrible tolerance for spicy food), so I'm not quite sure if it has lived up to its standard. It's supposed to be the restaurant's signature dish, but Ericia wasn't too happy about it. She prefers the one at PastaMania.

Blackcurrant Fizz / Pan Fried Fish with Al Scampi

The Blackcurrant Fizz was a house special and it isn't on the menu. Fizz is just fizz I mean how good could a fizz get, but this fizz was..... g o o d. The owner of the restaurant taught us how to mix the drink in the quickest way which was to blow bubbles in it and it was the coolest shit I've seen because it was like an ombré effect in action.

What I really liked about the Al Scampi sauce was the generous portion of seafood. Despite Xx and I sharing this, we still had 2 prawns/mussels each. I could drink the sauce as soup, mmmmm.

Kith Cafe / Pique Nique

Kith Cafe

On the second day of intern for the intern kids, we met for dinner for them to rant about their intern experience and also for our Gourmet Tuesday! It feels like we're all adults now. They're having 9-6 jobs, and the only time we get to rest / meet up are dinner times. I don't wanna grow up...

Truffle Fries

The truffle wasn't that strong as Au Chocolat's and I thought it'd have been better in steak fries rather than shoestring fries though. But the mayo dip made up for it.

Grilled Eggplant Sandwich

Eggplants are my favourite but this was the worst eggplant decision of my life. Couldn't take the taste of truffle smeared all over the eggplants and the eggplants tasted.... awfully bland. It was just a bad idea despite the rest strongly discouraging me to since the start. The only pro to this dish were the tiny cubes of brie and baby spinach that came with it.

Bryan's Sirloin Steak Sandwich

Edmund had the Vodka Pasta which I thought was quite a refreshing idea. Y'know how some pastas get so jerlard after awhile? This doesn't. Moreover, it doesn't come with any sides like meat or anything, just plain pasta, and it's still sufficient to satisfy your hunger pangs. Sadly I can't show you how the dish looks like. It was entirely devoured within seconds after it was served :-(

I'd really like to return there again to give the cafe a second chance, because honestly I was quite disappointed with the food. And it's not cheap... Oh and it's quite easy to locate the restaurant. It's situated just outside Park Mall. You have to enter from the outside because it can't be accessed from inside. You're welcome.

Pique Nique

The Tokyo Connection Burger

As eccentric as it sounds, this was the first item on the menu that caught my attention because it comes with wasabi mayo and wasabi mayo anything is worth a go. Basically it's a burger that comes with a (humongous) slab of teriyaki chicken with some mashed potatoes smeared over it. All was good until I realised there wasn't any wasabi mayo in it; I had to ask for it and they weren't so happy to give it. I mean... whut...? But that aside, tolerating shitty service was still worth it for this $12.80 burger.

Sally's Norwegian Benedict

Bryan's The Roasted Chicken and Mushroom Mac & Cheese

Pique Nique can be found just beside KFC, one storey above where the exhibitions and food fairs are usually held. It's appropriate for the budget kids like *ahem* us, and for small groups too.

Sloth life

Leading a sloth life leads to this -- coating my nails with every colour possible because there's too many lonely bottles of nail lacquers hanging around in the house. Having all the time in the world should be the best feeling of all but cooping myself at home (because I'm too financially challenged to go out) just makes me feel sick. It's like I'm suddenly allergic to the four walls I return to every night. Time to find myself some non-sloth activities to do...

Scuba-diving / Tioman Sept'13 / Project Aware

Weekend spent at my almost-second home, Tioman again for a marine conservation trip. It's the first time I've encountered such horrendous weather. On the night of arrival, the storm was so bad that we all had run for our lives from the jetty to the resort, which is at least 500m btw. But of course, the wet weather plan (sleeping) was still good.

Sea turtle on the rise (with Darren behind its ass)

The aim of this trip was to clear up the rubbish and debris and also to eliminate crown-of-thorns from the sea, but being the noobies that we are, we only found 2 c.o.t. out of the 18 for the entire trip :'( But 'twas still a new experience trying to spot c.o.t. hidden beneath corals, digging them out into the net and burying them on shore.
